Opening ceremony of the first solar photovoltaic power station took place in Azatan community, Shirak region on March 7.
The first Solar Photovoltaic Station with a capacity of 70 kW have been constructed in Azatan village of Shirak province. It was built as a result of joint cooperation between “Eurasia” CPO and the Embassy of Japan in Armenia. The project funding has been provided by the Embassy of Japan in Armenia within the framework of Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects.
The construction of the station started in July 2018.
The Solar Station will annually produce about 100,000 kWh of electricity and will reduce more than 30,000 kg of carbon emissions to environment, improving not only the environmental situation of the area and adjacent settlements, but also the socio-economic condition of the community residents as well.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Jun Yamada (Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Armenia,) Mr. Nver Torosyan (President of “Eurasia“ CPO ), Mr. Vardan Ikilikyan (Head of Azatan Community), Mr. Karen Sarukanyan (Governor of Shirak Province) and other officials, local people and etc.
“Eurasia” CPO was founded in 1997 in the Republic of Armenia.
